CAUTION : If the customer is invoiced : Never contain the CD-ROM in the invoice ; Keep this CD-ROM in order to be able to modernise future vehicles fitted with the radio-navigation system (RNEG) - The CD-ROM should be treated as a tool
2.2. Repair operation
2.2.1. Identification of the software version of the radio-navigation system (RNEG) Identifying the software version of the radio-navigation system (RNEG) ; Observe the following procedure : Switch on the radio-navigation system (RNEG) Press button SETUP Select "system parameters" then "software version" Viewing the software version displayed : If the version is type RNEG_D_Rxxxx_Rxx.xx : It is the radio-navigation system (RNEG) : This information applies If the version is another type : It is not the radio-navigation system (RNEG) : This information does not apply
2.2.2. Recommendations for avoiding the risk of breakdown CAUTION : Leave the engine running throughout the procedure to avoid going into economy mode : A change to economy mode during the procedure will render the radio-navigation system (RNEG) definitively unusable Do not touch the radio-navigation system (RNEG) either before or during the update. Begin the procedure immediately after starting the vehicle. Update the software with the engine running. Do not switch off the engine during the update. Do not start the engine while updating is in progress. Do not disconnect the battery while updating is in progress. The vehicle network (communication + supply) must be present during the update. Do not start any navigation calculation prior to the update. Check the condition of the CD-ROM (no scratches, no dust, no fingermarks) : Clean if dirty.
2.2.3. Procedure for updating the software of the radio-navigation system (RNEG) Updating the software of the radio-navigation system (RNEG) ; Observe the following procedure (The technician should be present in the vehicle up until the CD-ROM is ejected - Operation duration: approximately 30 minutes) : Start the engine Insert the software CD-ROM into the radio-navigation system (RNEG) The radio-navigation system (RNEG) will start up A window appears with the message "The system update is going to start ; please do not stop the engine or switch off the ignition." Click on "YES" The radio-navigation system (RNEG) will start up A window appears with the message "Update in progress ..." The radio-navigation system (RNEG) will start up A window appears with the message "Data update completed." Click on "OK" Press the "Eject" button Retrieve the ejected CD-ROM Wait 3 minutes Check that the updating of the software has gone correctly by using the method for identifying the software version of the radio-navigation system (RNEG) described above
